The two Germany pros recently scored victories with their clubs Leipzig and Schalke respectively and scored the first goals of the season.
Bad Waltersdorf – Marcel Sabitzer and Guido Burgstaller arrived in Bad Waltersdorf on Monday with a large portion of self-confidence in the camp of the Austrian national football team. The two German legionnaires are on the upswing with their clubs and scored their first goals of the season at the weekend.
Schalke professional Burgstaller scored in the 2-0 away win against Fortuna Düsseldorf, Leipzig offensive player Sabitzer even contributed a double pack to the 6-0 victory over 1st FC Nürnberg. The Styrian justified this personal sense of achievement with his good physical condition. “I feel better than I did a month ago and am now at 100 percent,” said Sabitzer.
At the last training course, Austria’s 2017 soccer player still had to struggle with the after-effects of a month-long injury break. “Now I am better in rhythm again. In the last three, four games I had again a feeling like in old times.”

Sabitzer on the upswing with Leipzig
Just like Sabitzer, RB Leipzig has been on the upswing in recent weeks – the youngest four compulsory games have all been won. “We are now strengthened again,” said the 24-year-old.
His club is second in the German Bundesliga after seven rounds three points behind Dortmund. “But we don’t sit in the cabin every day and calculate that we can finish first. We just want to collect points, and if it’s enough to finish between one and six in the end, we’re satisfied,” Sabitzer stressed.
“It’s time to get going.”
For the time being, the focus will be on the selection of the ÖFB, which has not yet worked out for him personally. “It would be time to take off,” Sabitzer said. He wants to establish himself as a leading player in the national team. “But for that I have to show my performance.
It remains to be seen whether the ex-Salzburger will have the opportunity to do so – he recently started on the bench against Sweden and Bosnia-Herzegovina. Should he come into action anyway, Sabitzer will be ready for a match against Northern Ireland with an emphasis on combat. It’s about second balls and duels, not about a beautiful game. Even a “disgusting victory” would satisfy the 31-fold international (5 goals).
“Must take the fight”
Burgstaller also used the word “disgusting” in his mouth in connection with the game against Northern Ireland. “They will throw everything in. This is a mentality team that will fully fight. We have to accept this fight“, the Carinthian said. To know more about Hopa Casino, check them out here.
Just like the British, Austria is still without points in the Nations League, while Bosnia-Herzegovina leads the table with six more points in a match. “That we are now under pressure is clear, that we want to win, too. But Northern Ireland will be a tough nut to crack,” Burgstaller suspected.
